Escolarian student leaders from 34 different campus organizations convened at the LA Auditorium for the annual SAO-USC General Assembly, organized by the CEU Manila University Student Council (USC) last September 30.

With the theme “Trekking Uncharted Horizons”, the assembly kicked off with the presentation of school council officers and the newly-elected officers of the accredited organizations of the university, along with their respective advisers, as part of the roll call.

Afterward, members of the university student body were introduced, each delivering a message to their fellow student leaders, and sharing motivations in serving the community.

In his welcoming remarks, Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Carlito Olaer stated that the general assembly’s purpose was to welcome all student leaders among the university-wide and school-based organizations accredited by the university.

He also expressed in his remarks the importance of cultivating the 4C’s: critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication, as vital 21st-century learning skills, emphasizing on the significance of honing their communication skills in fulfilling leadership responsibilities.

Meanwhile, USC President Cheska Marie Carreon shared her insights on becoming a leader, also encouraging other student leaders to step up not just for themselves but for others as well.

“We are all one together in this journey, which makes us a family,” Carreon said.

Afterwhich came the main agenda of the event: an in-depth discussion on the rationale behind USC Batch Tiyera, USC constitution and by-laws, and the approved action plan for the first and second semester.

It was announced that the Leadership Summit 2023, a three-day event for student leaders, will be held off-campus in December.

Meanwhile, the USC Circles, comprising various programs, projects, and committees were introduced, showcasing the diverse set of opportunities available for student-leaders to get involved on campus.

The USC Circles are as follows: Circle of Artists, Givers, Menders, Voicers, Mediators, Guardians, and Mentors.

Later on, Dr. Lani Sakay, assistant to the vice president of student affairs (international students services), also shared CEU’s vision, mission, and goals to become globally competitive and an inclusive community in her address.

An open forum also took place, providing attendees with the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarifications on various topics, including the official college polo shirt, registration fee for the off-campus Leadership Summit 2023, rating forms for events, and more.
