In the spirit of fostering camaraderie among its students, the School of Education, Liberal Arts, Music, and Social Work (SELAMS) arranged its first-ever dean’s hour last November 6.

Organized by the school’s student council, the event highlighted ‘belongingness and learning in SELAMS’ as its theme.

In his opening remarks, Prof. James Phillip Monserate, SELAMS SC adviser, shared that the council continues to strive in establishing a safe space for the SELAMS community.

Likewise, Mr. Joe Catalla, representative from the Guidance and Counseling Department, reminded Escolarians that their services are readily available, and that their office is always open for consultations.

Dr. Maria Rita Lucas, dean of SELAMS, also gave an insightful talk about the many potentials of one’s self, highlighting the community’s ‘good listening’ trait.

Several interactive activities took place, which aimed at encouraging teamwork, expressing self-love, and enhancing students’ social skills.

An open forum was also facilitated to give attendees the opportunity to voice their reflections and realizations about the event.
