With the theme “Palarong Pampamantasan; Palakasin ang Diwang Escolarian”, CEU graced its comeback to a pre-pandemic setup with an alluring opening ceremony featuring guest star performers, the first time it could stage such an event in five years.

The program kicked off with a Parade of Athletes from the ten colleges of CEU Manila, and representatives from CEU Makati and CEU Malolos campuses.

In her opening speech, Dr. Maria Cristina Padolina, CEU President and Chief Academic Officer, highlighted the core values of this year’s sports fest; to develop a sense of sportsmanship, learn how to accept losses, and foster camaraderie.

The declaration was followed by the torch-lighting ceremony set ablaze by Dr. Charito Bermido, together with Dr. Maria Rita D. Lucas, SELAMS Dean, and Dr. Padolina. The Oath of Sportsmanship led by Kenan Magtibay took place afterward and was joined by each college’s team captain.

The festivities continued with the search for Mr. and Ms. Sportsfest 2024 and a spirited battle between colleges on the dance floor during the Dance Competition.

The crowd was entertained and energized with productions from CEU Manila and Makati campuses, astonishing performances of the CEU Folkdance troupe, a well-presented field demonstration prepared by the Physical Education Department, and a star-studded lineup, featuring the biggest names in the Pinoy pop scene, BGYO, and BINI.

The program concluded with cheers of victory as the School of Pharmacy bagged the title award of Mr. and Ms. Sportsfest 2024 and the School of Dentistry was hailed winners of the annual dance competition.
