Escolarians from the CEU MANILA-Red Cross Youth Organization gathered at the Librada Avelino Auditorium for their annual general assembly on November 11.

With the theme “All Aboard the Going Merry! It’s time to set sail and find the Treasure of Volunteerism,” the program’s atmosphere was filled with a sense of adventure, mirroring the spirit of exploration and unity among the attendees.

In his welcoming remarks, Clark Matthew Sotto, the Senior President of RCY CEU-Manila, delivered a warm and encouraging message to the attendees, thanking them for participating in the organized event.

He also shared the long-standing tradition of RCY, which involves responding with “Aba Syempre” instead of “Oo.”

Afterward, Mr. Patrick B. Sevilla, Chapter Service Representative of the Manila Red Cross Youth, discussed the ins and outs of the Red Cross as an organization, including its history, background, mission, and vision.

In addition to this, he also explained the seven fundamental principles of the organization and its services, further enriching their understanding of the importance of humanitarian work.

According to him, the Red Cross is one of the humanitarian organizations that assist in times of disaster, peace, and when anyone is in need of help.

“Because our goal is to alleviate human suffering,” Mr. Sevilla added.

In addition, he mentioned the simple equation of the Red Cross organization: volunteers (trained to respond to different disasters) + logistics (ambulances and firetrucks) + information technology = Philippine Red Cross.

This was followed by an open forum where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions about the Red Cross.

After this, the Nursing Dance Company delivered a lively intermission number, adding to the fun atmosphere.

Next, the senior officers, junior officers, and committee heads of the CEU RCY were introduced.

Meanwhile, Francenne Briana Bailador, the CEU RCY Secretary, presented the organization’s action plan for the coming year, and Jihad Samm Baunta, the CEU RCY Treasurer, presented the organization’s financial status.

This was followed by the pledge of support to the CEU RCY from the following student organizations: PHISMETS, NSC, MTSC, COMPASS, SCA, CEU Photo Club, Centro Creatives, The MedTech Frontiers Publication, and Centro Dalumat.

The CEU RCY oath and the seven Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross were then led by Sheenarah Jane Espinosa and Johann Sebastian Macaspac, the CEU RCY Auditor and Junior President, respectively.

This segment was followed by a fun and energizing Team Building & Bonding activity participated in by the attendees as well as the officers.

The event concluded with closing remarks and acknowledgments from Reina Angela Butch, CEU RCY Internal Vice President.
