The annual USC Week organized by the CEU Manila University Student Council officially returned to its on-campus celebration on Monday, April 24 at CEU Manila.
Carrying the theme “The Parallels: Escolarians Align,” the opening ceremonies started with a parade introducing the different schools of Manila campus.
Following the parade, opening remarks were given by Dr. Carlito Olaer, Vice President for Student Affairs, who expressed his fondness for this year’s theme, which relates to the concept of the ‘multiverse’.
Dr. Olaer mentioned the infinite possibilities of ideas, actions, and relationships students can build on and off campus, ending his message by encouraging everyone to believe in the power of their ‘truest’ selves.
After which, the opening of USC Week came shortly after, along with the raising of the flags of each school and of the CEU Manila student council.
The program continued with a speech from the event’s keynote speaker, Mr. Dannes Serrano, the “Modificational Platform Speaker” and Philippine Point Speaker on Change Development.
In his speech, Mr. Serrano emphasized the importance of change in facing the mirrors of infinite possibility.
“When I say change, it means adaptation. When I say change, it means adjustment. When I say change, it means being willing to adapt at any time. You should be willing to undergo a process,” he said.
The speaker also shared ways to embrace change: accept pain, accept little improvements, and accept learning.
The program proceeded with the Multiverse Cosplay Competition, where representatives from each school dressed up as characters who experienced the ‘multiverse’.
The fun-filled event also saw a powerful and daunting performance from the CEU Pep and Street Squad, followed by the introduction of Mr. and Ms. CEU 2023, where each candidate showcased their talents during the production number.
