On November 8, students, alumni, faculty, and congruent staff gathered in the LA Auditorium to celebrate and acknowledge the excellence and achievements of the Escolarian community.
Host Eduardo M. Riparip opened the program, introducing the President and Chief Academic Officer, Dr. Ma. Christina Padolina, for her opening remarks.
Dr. Padolina opened her spiel by thanking the CEU Community as well as its stakeholders, highlighting the importance of one particular stakeholder—ourselves.
“Research has shown that doing the work we love, and loving the work we do, results in not just an improved productivity or workplace, but an improved state of our physical and mental well-being.” Dr. Padolina said.
Following this, Dr. Pearly P. Lim, the Vice President and Dean of Studies for CEU Makati, introduced the guest of honor, Dr. Lillian G. Salonga, Director IV, Competitiveness Bureau (Department of Trade and Industry).
In her speech, Dr. Salonga emphasized the importance of personal vision, no matter how simple, as a guide to our goals and purpose in life.
“Always remember, no matter how simple your goal may be now, it’s still essential and [will contribute] to your success.” Dr. Salonga said.
Following this, the CEU Folk Dance Troupe performed an intermission performance prior to the awarding ceremonies.
Afterward, the awardees of excellence were then presented to the Escolarian community.
The award for Best Quality Circle was given to the Office of the Registrar (OUR) of CEU Manila (Mr. Reymart C. Bolasoc, Mr. Jerrick Allen G. Anatalio, Mr. Benjo R. De Guzman, and Ms. Mary Angela M. Combine).
Meanwhile, Team G was awarded for being the Best IQA Sub-team, consisting of Mrs. Melody Guno and Mr. Arnel De Guia.
Following this, Dr. Ramil L. Cuerdo was given the CEU Stars award for improving the subject crediting process for transferring/shifting students through an online system.
Moreover, the awards for Non-Teaching Employee of the Year were given to Ms. Claudette P. Nuguid (Non-Supervisory) and Mrs. Marian Gigi C. Cusi (Supervisory).
In addition to this, the university recognized and rewarded the achievements of the UNESCO Youth Hackathon 2023 Winners, AGOS Philippines.
The team, AGOS Philippines, consists of Marie Francheska Hermosa (CEU Manila), Alexene Faith Tomate (CEU Makati), and Charlene Grace Macapagal (CEU Malolos), along with their adviser, Mr. Jose Cris Sotto.
Following this, the Research of the Year award was given to Ms. Liza Marie C. De Guzman for her paper “Niosomal entrapment improved the bactericidal properties of Azithromycin against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus.”
To conclude the awarding ceremony, the Teacher of the Year award was given to Dr. Ana Marie L. Rubenicia.
Throughout the ceremony, Mr. Kaynne Gerald Castillo and the CEU Singers Manila graced the community with their wonderful performances as interludes.
Lastly, Dr. Erna V. Yabut, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Institutional Development, gave her pledge of commitment to the CEU community.
The event concluded with the CEU Singers Manila performing the CEU Hymn.
